The iconic ‘Australian Made, Australian Grown’ (AMAG) logo and what it stands for has never been more important than it is today, with the impact of the recent COVID-19 pandemic greatly affecting international trade, local jobs and incomes, and consumer attitudes. During this trying time in history the need to support Aussie businesses and products has become ever more apparent, to help our economy and our people bounce back and thrive once again!

“Australia’s over-reliance on imported products has been highlighted during the COVID-19 pandemic,” says Australian Made Chief Executive, Ben Lazzaro. “Australians are now placing priority on manufacturing self-sufficiency and job creation along with a renewed appetite to address the imbalance between locally made and imported products to ensure Australia’s long-term prosperity,” he says.

Recent research has found that closure of international borders and restrictions on travel around the world in 2020 has helped increase support for Australian-made goods, with 93% of Australians now more likely to buy a product that is made in Australia, featuring the AMAG logo.

The famous kangaroo AMAG logo, in all its green and gold glory, is the true mark of Aussie authenticity and national pride! Young or old, city slicker or outback dweller, everyone knows this label - it’s Australia’s most trusted, recognised and widely used country of origin symbol. Most importantly, the AMAG logo is underpinned by a third-party accreditation system, which ensures products that carry it are certified as 'genuinely’ Australian.

All of Orion Australia’s products proudly display the iconic AMAG logo; from our range of Rainwater Tanks, JACKY Bins , Procon Australia products and BLOO Tanks. The true-blue values of this trademark are at the core of Orion’s business and is reflected in our operations, products, and people. Not only is Orion a locally owned and operated Tasmanian business of 35 years, but all our products are manufactured and assembled in Australia. Our products are created by Aussies for Aussies, and all wear this sacred symbol with pride.

“When you buy ‘Australian Made, Australian Grown’ products, you know what you are getting - products made to the highest of manufacturing standards,” Mr Lazzaro says. “At the same time, you are helping to support our manufacturing industry, create Aussie jobs and give back to local communities.”

Australia Made Week (24 May – 30 May 2021):

To build on the momentum of this recent surge in support for Aussie products, and to help boost our country’s economy over the next 12 months, the first ever Australian Made Week campaign has just kicked off (running from Monday 24 May, to Sunday 30 May).

Australian Made Week is all about encouraging shoppers to focus their purchases on genuine Australian made products, helping to celebrate and support local makers and growers around the country.

It’s been found that if every household just spent an additional $10 a week on Australian Made products, it would inject an extra $5 billion into the economy each year and create up to 11,000 new jobs.

You can get involved in Australia Made week by:

  • Looking for and purchasing products with the green and gold ‘Australian Made, Australian Grown’ logo.

  • Considering the flow-on effects of your purchasing decisions (i.e. when you buy Australian made/grown products you are helping to support local businesses and communities across Australia).

  • Spreading the word online, across your social media platforms. Share a picture of your Aussie Made purchases on Facebook or Instagram using the hashtags #AustralianMade and #AustralianMadeWeek. Don’t forget to tag the @australianmadecampaign account and the Aussie maker/brand too.

  • Encouraging you friends and family to get involved in Australian Made Week, by discussing the importance of buying Aussie and spreading the word!
